In this blog, I’d like to tell you more about my studies. I have mentioned that I am studying acting at the Central School of Speech and Drama in London. I have always dreamt of becoming an actress and my love for singing meant I can pursue theatre acting. Fortunately, I was able to get into the school that I am currently in. Dame Judi Dench went to this school and so did Sir Laurence Olivier and Vanessa Redgrave. I would be crazy not to grab the chance of acceptance.
About the Central School of Speech and Drama in London
The Central School of Speech and Drama in London or CSSD is one of the best drama schools that you will find in the UK. It was founded back in 1906 and have helped a lot of famous names develop their talent and skills in acting.
It is actually an honour to say that I am a part of Central. I have every intention of becoming one of the best actresses in my generation. I really hope my studies in this school will help me accomplish that. For the past few years, I have been working really hard to make sure that I absorb as much as I can from my professors and mentors.
The great thing about this school is the fact that they also help me get the right connections that will eventually help me get a job once I finish school.
About my studies
So what else can I share about my studies in Central? I am currently taking up BA Acting in Musical Theatre. The focus of my degree is both classical and contemporary theatre. It also exposes me to musicals, television, radio, and feature film. This course will only take 3 years to complete and I am already about to finish my second year.
What I like about this particular course is the fact that they do not just focus on acting. They will train your spoken and singing voice. They will also train you in dance and movement. Since it specifically focuses on musical theatre, it is not surprising that they will help hone our singing and dancing skills too. The course will also teach us how to work with other and collaborate with different individuals. After all, a theatre production requires a lot of people. You need to learn how to work well with people of different personalities and temperaments.
With only a year or so left, I am really excited to finish my studies and finally try out my talents. Life on campus is great but I am sure that the real thing will be so much better.
